Where the Fuckin' Hell Are Yous?
I still call Australia home...
September 11
Okay, September 11 was a tragic day for everyone and should be remembered as such but this new movie with Nic Cage is just so American that the reality of the situation is completely lost. I'm not at all against a film being made about this event, but this movie just looks.... stupid.
Don't get me started on the ending tagline "When the whole world saw evil..." I'm pretty sure that was only the American president, the media and Oprah that used "evil". The rest of the world saw it as a terrorist attack, and one of many that happens every day all around the world. yes, it was bigger, but not exactly out of the ordinary.
I remember a great line I read a few years ago, "Terrorism happens every day in every country around the world, but when it happens to America, it's an act of war".

Just had the flu and boy are my arms tired.
What I thought was a whole day of jumping up and down (aka teaching kids) catching up with me turned out to be something a lot worse when I was almost sleeping on the train coming home and then throwing up once I did. I had caught the flu and I had no idea it could be that bad. My joints were hurting like Hell, I had a constant headache and no energy at all. I called in sick yesterday (seriously couldn't get out of bed) and am a lot better now but still not 100%.
Am just amazed at how strong that flu was. Never had anything like it.

Blast from the Past!
Check it out everyone! I'm sure you all remember this kick arse show from the 80s!
And this classic!
What a nice lady
I was in one of those moods where I'd given up on Japan, the language, the food, the people... everything, but on my back from the gym I saw a woman, early twenties, give up her seat for an elderly man. Wow. That's such a rare occurence and it gave me an instant shot of hope that there is still kindness and common curtiousy in this place.
So here's a BIG THANK YOU to the woman who helped that man today. Thanks for involving yourself in the day to day life of another human being in this sometimes emotionally dead city. You made my afternoon and encouraged me to be a better person next time I see an elderly person in need of a seat.
Lead by example people!

Tanoshi Walk
The weather has been so good this week! I just went on a little 2 hour trek in a random direction to see if I could find something interesting. That's the great thing about Tokyo. You can walk anywhere and you're bound to find something! Backstreets are just so facinating!
I stumbled across a place called Senkawa which I'd actually heard of before but never been too. Amazing greenage on the sides of the road and everyone seemed to be so happy and relaxed in public! Probably because it's Golden Week on Wednesday.
Yesterday John and Kat came over for lunch and we all had a blast! Cooked up seom tofu steak for the first time and it was a great success. Cheers for coming guys! We'll definitly do it again!

Welcome. My name's Brad and I'm about to start my fifth year in Tokyo, Japan though lately I've found that that defines me as badly as saying I'm from Sydney, Australia.
