Depressed.
I think this past week I've been clinically depressed. Honestly. I've been feeling just really emotionally stale. Work's starting to get to me... well not really the work but more the students. There seems to be a complete lack of respect for the teachers and learning the language that they're paying for. Most study English because it's "cool" or "I don't know" and the majority have been stuck in the same level for several YEARS. It just gets you down, especially when we still get the "You're white, you're so cool" attitude after being here for a year. I'd rather be respected than thought to be a novelty personally.
There are some great students but they're in the minority (and that's a small minority). The NOVA kids on the other hand are great. Love every class with my kids. Wish I could just do kids classes.
The staff and administration is really unorganised.
Just general racism on the trains every morning to work. I think I present myself better than most other businessmen on the trains (most passed out or asleep) yet people still would rather stand than sit next to me or move to the next carriage when they see me standing in the doorway when the train stops at the station.
Don't get me started on all the pushing and no appologising.
Almost quit several times this week. Seriously. Was waiting for an excuse to walk out.
However, while chatting on Skype last night with Allison I rediscovered my passion for FIRETWIRLING!!! Am buying a staff tonight and can't wait to practice!!! Am feeling up already!!!

Longest Day of the Year!
Apparently today has the longest daylight of the year, go figure.
Interesting news today, we're getting a Nova Kid whoe is visually impared. Havn't met him myself but expressed my interest to teach him. Was partial trained in special education in my Uni course and it would definitly make the job more interesting.

Makeover
Am getting tired...... ah! a mosquito!..... of this site. A BIG redesign coming up soon!
This week in review: a house up the road burnt down (just like last year!), saw Closer (GREAT!) and The Interpreter (also GREAT!), started using an amazing site; http://www.skype.com/ which lets you ring home over your computer for about 50 cents per 20 minute conversation, rainy season seems to be in (a small typhoon this arvo)... oh and our landlord is now bankrupt so the government's selling the apartment.

Welcome. My name's Brad and I'm about to start my fifth year in Tokyo, Japan though lately I've found that that defines me as badly as saying I'm from Sydney, Australia.
