Happy Unbirthday to Me!

Oh, man what a confusing morning! Got a call from my branch at Shin Koshigaya this morning asking if I was working today (you can tell they're organised with a question like that, huh?) to whcih I told them that I had done a swap with another teacher for today. They said it was for NEXT saturday. It very well could be but we filled in the swap form the day before the other teacher needed it so I didn't get the copy and was going from memory and was PRETTY sure I had swapped today.

I rang foreign personel and for the first time I got a genuinly sincere woman for while was annoyed that we had made a mistake was adult enough to look at all angles and see how unorganised our branch is (Our staff at SK still hadn't faxed her a copy of the form yet) and after a few more calls said that "Honestly, Brad. I don't know what's going on either."

I still get a whole day (and then some) of my salary deducted but I get the day off and the fact that someone at FP was on my side or at least understanding made all the difference. Normally they'd leave me feeling like I was going to be deported.

I'm a Fan

Just join several hundred "fanlistings" as you can see by the numerous square pics on the right side of the screen (scroll down a bit). This should give you a general idea of what I'm into.... well a bit of it anyway.

My body has completely shat itself this week, had massive toothaches, backaches and then a sharp jabbing sensation in my side. Feeling alright now though!

Reflecting...

I'm kind of wondering what I should do with this site. The main reason I started it was to keep a record of my "Japanese experience" and to keep family and friends updated but really the notelty of Japan has worn off. It's now where I'm living. At least for another year anyway so the first reason I made this doesn't really apply anymore. I guess I'm seeing my time here as part of my whole life, not a special chapter (it is just another country after all).

However, a LOT of people have been finding this site before they come to Japan, looking for information on Nova and Saitama so I may put up some basic info on that.

What does everyone think about this?

Another crash!

Was going to post about that HUGE train crash in Osaka that happened earlier this week, but this morning on the news there was a HELICOPTER crash in Shizuoka prefecture in a residential area. I'm so paranoid about the big quake that's expected any day now, but perhaps I should be watching out for Japanese transport!

Am having a great time in Japan. Had an amazing day yesterday with Masato shopping in Harajuku and walking around Yoyogi Park. Overall just a great day. Had some personal issues today but it ended on a good note that has me feeling all warm and fuzzy. Go figure.

It's Golden Week this week. Remember last year my ATM card was cancelled and I was without cash for a week? Good times. Good times.

Currently I'm learning Japanese Kanji and conversation with the aim of passing Level 2 of the Japanese Fluency Te... - More ->
