A Good Day
This is going to sound really pathetic, and scarily like a kind of person that I hate, but I have a favorite pastry. It's a wierd green rockmelon based cake with REAL orange rockmelon in the centre (I'm talking the fruit people... IN A CAKE! INSANE I TELL YOU!) Whenever I buy breakfast at the Japanese-trying-to-be-French bakery at my station I ALWAYS buy this bun.
Anyway, this morning they were sold out so I bought my second fave (I sound really pathetic now). As I was paying, the shy clerk appologised in Japanese for not having any of the "melon bun" today and giggled to herself. That was great so I laughed too. I guess I'm a regular but didn't really appreciate it until someone gave me a genuine welcome conversation instead of the cliched "GOOD MORNING!" yell that most people get.
It's a shame that I'm moving into Tokyo from the first of next month (yeah, big news, right?) I'm going to miss this little Japanese-trying-to-be-French bakery... and their green rockmelons buns.

Happy Unbirthday to Me!

Welcome. My name's Brad and I'm about to start my fifth year in Tokyo, Japan though lately I've found that that defines me as badly as saying I'm from Sydney, Australia.
